A boat traveling from Dzemeni to Havorkope in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District of the Eastern Region is said to have capsized leading to the death of about 30 people.
The tragedy occurred in Todzie, according to news reports, while the boat was on route to Havorkope on the Volta lake.
Witnesses said that between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, a violent wind storm caused the boat to capsize, drowning some of those on board.
A few of the victims managed to swim to safety ashore.
However, only a few bodies had been found as at now.
A search party has been deployed to the Volta lake in search of the remaining bodies.
Residents in the area are requesting assistance from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
