The offices of the Agortime-Ziope District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has been lockdown by the landlord for non-payment of rent.
Staff of the directorate including the District Director of Education Mad. Happy Tsipokor were stranded outside the premises in the early hours of Tuesday after they reported to work just to meet the gate to the office complex locked.
A staff who spoke on anonymity to Nyatefe Radio said the office failed to pay its rent for the past
three years. “The last time we paid for the space was three years ago. The landlord has written to us severally on this matter but we couldn’t pay. I think that is why he came to lock the place”.
The landlord who was only named as Mr. Agbovi declined to speak to Nyatefe Radio.
Mad. Happy Tsipokor, the District Director also declined to speak to Nyatefe Radio owing to instructions from the Regional Directorate.
