The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has been petition over a newly constructed Storm Drain connecting Anglicans School and the Tarso Hotel junction Bridge at Hliha -Xadome a suburb of Ho in the Volta region.
According to The Concern Citizens of Xadome, the said project awarded by the Ministry of Work and Housing under the Hydro department has been constructed but posting a serious danger to the community.
The estimated 500m storm drain according to them, which was completed about a month ago, since has now become a defence wall instead of serving it intended purpose.
The petition penned under the signatory of four (4) citizens, Madam Annie Ayidzoe, Innocent Kpogo, Jerbril Gbogbo and Teima Joseph is in relations to the numerous challenges the Storm drain has exposed them to in the area.
According to the petition, copied to The Volta regional Minister Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Ho Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Divine Bosson and the Assembly member of the area Hon. Frank Yao Awumah, the signatories called for an immediate action to be taken by the various offices to bring the contractor back to site to ravage the situation.
The petition however stressed on the havoc the project has caused the citizens stressing that, failure to take immediate actions, it’s expected to worsen the situation which will affect the entire Hliha community when the rain sets inn.
He disclosed that, he has been in talks with the contractor and the Municipal Chief Executive of Ho to come to the aid of the people of Xadome Hliha.
He mentioned that the Contractor has promised him of coming to the site to make the necessary corrections.
