Residents in some communities of Ketu North are living in fear over an allege attempted ritual murder incidence that happened over the weekend.
The incident which happened at Avevluime near Devego-Tadzewu in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta region involved three (3) children who were said to have escaped the alleged ritual murder attempt.
According to reports, the alleged ritualist Kwoku Lumor popular known as Zewuze who lives in a community called Kutinu has been performing rites for his gods in the area with rumours that the gods needs human blood for sanctification.
This they said, propelled the priest to send his boys on an errand to look for human blood for his sanctification rite.
Confirming the incidence to IGNEWSS the assembly man for the area Hon. Emmanuel Agbotui narrated that, he had a call from Grace Dzaka, the mother of the victims, who reported the incident to him.
According to the Assembly Member, the mother of the victims said, her children were returning from farm with firewood when they met the suspected errand boys driving a white car.
He said, they (suspects) asked the kids to come on board the car but the kids resisted.
The mother who was left behind by her three children heard the yelling of the kids while on her way and subsequently met the said white car on the way.
“the children told her that, the men came out from the car in black and red attire and wanted to killed the kids before they told them in fear that their parents are behind”
Hon. Agbotui further narrated he quickly moved after receivening the call and upon reaching the scene he met the suspects in a community called Xipe a suburb of Devego in white car surrounded by a large crowd of community members.
He then had the chance to question them on their intentions which they denied saying they were rather offering help to take the children home.
Hon. Agbotui told IGNEWSS that the suspects were further handed over to the Dzodze police but were later granted bail.
He disclosed that an official statement has been taken by the police from him and the victims who he said fell sick due to what he suspected to be caused by fear and trauma.
He added that police have since launched investigation into the incidence as at the time of filling this story.
